Evaluations

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but the initial evaluation is simply a conversation to help your therapist understand your concerns and how they can best support you. This first session is a chance to share what’s been on your mind, explore what’s been challenging, and start building a plan for moving forward.

How Do Evaluations Work?

The evaluation process begins with a relaxed discussion where we talk about what brought you to therapy. This is your opportunity to share any concerns, emotions, or challenges you’ve been experiencing.

As part of the evaluation, I use several evidence-based assessments that are suited to your age group and help identify any other possible challenges. These assessments are designed to give a clear picture of your needs and help guide the treatment process. During this process, I may ask about past experiences with mental health, any previous therapy or treatments, and any family history of mental health conditions. This helps create a comprehensive picture of your background and any patterns that might be affecting you.

At the end of the evaluation, we will discuss your goals for therapy. I’ll share my thoughts, suggest ways to approach things, and create a plan that fits your needs, whether it’s ongoing therapy, coping strategies, or other resources.

What Happens Next?

After the evaluation, Kristina will summarize her findings and recommend a treatment path. Some people continue with regular therapy sessions, while others may explore additional support like medication, group therapy, or self-care techniques.

The evaluation is a collaborative process—it’s not about labeling or diagnosing but about understanding your experiences and finding the best way to support your mental wellness.
